Patreon Payout Schedule
Earning on Patreon and receivingthe money are two different events. Between a patron's pledge clearing and the cash landing in your bank, there's a billing cycle, a processing window, and sometimes a hold. Here's how the timing works.
Monthly vs per-creation billing
How you bill patrons drives when you earn. With subscription (monthly) billing, patrons are charged on a recurring monthly date and earnings accrue across the month. With per-creation billing, patrons are charged each time you publish a paid post. Your available balance reflects pledges that have actually been collected, not just promised.
When the money becomes available
After charges process, funds move into your Patreon balance and become available for payout once they clear — typically a short number of business days after the charge, not instantly. From there you withdraw to your connected payout method (bank/ACH, PayPal, or other supported options depending on your country).
You can usually set payouts to run automatically on a schedule or trigger them manually. Treat exact timing as "as of 2026 — check Patreon's current payout terms", as windows differ by country and payout method.
Holds, minimums, and declined payments
New accounts and large balance swings can trigger a temporary payout hold for fraud and identity checks. Some payout methods have a minimum balance before you can withdraw. And not every pledge collects on the first try — declined cardsget retried, so a slice of "earned" money may arrive late or not at all.
Currency conversion at payout
If your patrons pay in one currency and you're paid out in another, a conversion happens somewhere in the chain — and it carries a margin. PayPal withdrawals in particular can apply their own conversion rate, so the amount that hits your account can be a little below the headline balance.
